Kitchen Design

Gene & Susan ~ kitchen remodel

Before::

The original kitchen was very small and dark.  Both clients stated  they 'fight' over the one sink.  They also wanted space for the grandchildren in the kitchen.  The kitchen lacked sufficient counter/work space for two cooks and generally was outdated.

After::

More storage and counter space was acquired by bumping the exterior wall out an additional 5 feet.  This allowed for the creation of a large island capable of seating 4 guests, perfect for including the grandchildren in kitchen fun.  The large island also accommodates a secondary prep sink creating an additional work zone.  New appliances update and finish out the look.

Kim & Tim ~ Kitchen Remodel

Before::

Clients liked the overall look of their kitchen but it felt small, confined and lacking in storage.   The tile counter tops, inadequate lighting and the fact that the traffic flow through the rest of the home was interrupted in the kitchen were stressing for the home owner.  The original built-in hutch, while very charming, did not provide enough  usable  space (pictured left). Improper ventilation at the range was not only a safety issue but also a health concern (below left).

After::

The original look of the kitchen was maintained with the use of new, classic white, painted cabinets.  The updated lighting and beautiful black granite counter tops along with the subway tile back splash and dynamic painted floor, help capture but not duplicate the original allure of the kitchen.   A fresh new traffic flow through the lower level of the home was created by swinging the refrigerator to the other wall.  The newly accessible casual dinning area through a new framed opening increases the implied size of the space.  The use of a smaller sink base cabinet allows for an expansion of storage in the adjacent cabinet.

Kathy & David: Bath Remodel

Before::

Aside from the cold and drab feeling of the space in question the home owners HATED the cabinets. The laminate counter tops, limed oak cabinets and over sized mirror dated the bath.  The area meant to be a makeup table was an unrealistic and waste of valuable space. The homeowners were also concerned with the resale value of the current bath and to ensure they got a good return on their investment they wanted to stick to a modest and realistic budget.

After::

By using the simplest maple cabinets available and finishing them in a rich cherry stain we achieved the look of modern, clean lined cherry cabinets.  With updated hardware, new neutral counter tops, fresh paint and new floor tile this once cold and drab master bath became a warm inviting space reflective of the home and homeowners personality.

Bridgett & Tom: Bath remodel

Before:

This master bath was straight out of the 1980's with it's lavender walls, large hot tub, gray tile and white "modern" cabinets.  The homeowners wanted the new space to blend in with the 1920's character of the home.  The space was also in desperate need of logical, usable storage.  This busy family of four also wanted move their laundry facilities up from the basement.

the Design:

This is a computer generated color perspective of the design.  Color perspectives are included in the Design Drawing Packet that Cardimona-Kaffine Designs produces for clients.  The perspectives are meant to help homeowners visualize the potential of the finished space.

After:

The 1920's look was captured with pattern tile floors and glass hard wear chosen by the homeowners. The new master bath includes new storage space for personal items and hidden outlets for grooming equipment.  The chore of doing the laundry is now more efficient with the facilities located where the laundry is produced. A new tiled shower complete with a multi-spray tower adds a touch of luxury for this young family.
